Hi friends,
It is 9:43 AM on a Sunday morning, and it is already 24 degrees - which, for Toronto, means it’s going to feel like an Italian summer very soon. I have the AC blasting, I’m wearing the sheerest dress I could find in my closet, and of course - we have a coffee beside us. My skin smells like coconut and lime (my sister gifted me a body butter she doesn’t use), and Diet Pepsi is playing through my laptop speakers.
I wanted to write a little letter to you to FINALLY announce my *new* writing group that will start on Sunday, July 13th. I’ve been mulling over themes for this group. Recently, we’ve had *summer forever*, and the ones before have circulated around the themes of grief, love, freedom, and self-expression.
In yesterday’s newsletter, I wrote down the term hope. And I think hope is one of the strongest and one of the most powerful tools that any of us can tap into and carry throughout our lives. Hope, to me, says - there is meaning beyond all of it, beyond all of this earthly existence. There’s dreams to be had, something to believe in, and something more to hold onto.
One of the reasons why I write, is to re-parent myself. And my friends who have daughters, will say the same thing. Having a daughter is having to be so consciously aware of our conditioning, and of how we have had to dim parts of ourselves to feel worthy of being chosen.
So the overarching theme of this next group will be: hope. We’ll tap into our spirituality, our new forms of faith, think of those childhood dreams and remember what it felt like to view everything for the first time. To be whimsical, to believe in magic, and most of all - to believe in ourselves.
